Zalile TauTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had an absolute nightmare of an emergency when a DIY project went horribly wrong. Common Issues We Solve
No Hot Water
Faulty heating element, tripped thermostat or failed electrical connection — we diagnose and restore hot water the same day.
Leaking Geyser
Drips from the overflow pipe, T&P valve or tank itself signal pressure or corrosion issues. We pinpoint the source and fix it fast.
Burst Geyser
A burst tank can flood your ceiling in minutes. We respond rapidly, isolate the unit, and replace it with a SABS-approved geyser.
Tripping Electricity
If your geyser keeps tripping the circuit breaker, the element is likely shorted. We test, replace and check all electrical connections.
Strange Noises
Popping or rumbling means sediment has built up inside the tank. A professional flush restores efficiency and extends geyser life.
Discoloured Water
Brown or rust-tinted hot water usually means a depleted anode rod. We replace it before it eats through your tank.
Our Geyser Installation & Repair Process in Johannesburg
A clear, step-by-step approach from diagnosis to long-term maintenance.
1. Comprehensive Inspection & Diagnosis
Every job starts with a full diagnostic. We check the heating element with a multimeter, test the thermostat, inspect the pressure relief valve (PRV), temperature and pressure (T&P) valve, anode rod, drain valve and overflow pipe, and verify the cold water inlet and hot water outlet are flowing correctly. We also examine the electrical connections, circuit breaker and timer switch to rule out wiring faults. You get a clear written quote before any work begins — no surprises, no upsells.
- Element & thermostat continuity testing
- PRV / T&P valve pressure check
- Anode rod & corrosion inspection
- Electrical & circuit breaker safety check
2. Installation: Electric vs Gas Geysers
We install both electric geysers (the standard 100L–200L SABS-approved tanks found in most Johannesburg homes) and gas geysers (instant LPG units that lower your electricity bill and never run out of hot water). For each installation we fit a new drip tray, vacuum breaker, expansion valve, isolator switch and proper insulation, and we ensure the overflow pipe discharges safely outside. All work complies with SANS 10254 and is signed off with an electrical compliance certificate where required.
- Electric geysers (100L, 150L & 200L)
- Gas geysers with instant, energy-efficient heating
- Solar-ready geyser installations available
- SANS 10254 compliant installations with COC issued
3. Geyser Repair Process
Most geyser failures come down to four parts: the heating element, the thermostat, the pressure relief valve and the anode rod. We carry these in-van for every call-out, so the majority of repairs are completed in a single visit. We also handle leak repairs, valve replacements, drain valve servicing and full sediment flushing of the geyser tank to remove the chalky build-up that’s common with Gauteng’s harder water.
- Heating element replacement
- Thermostat replacement
- PRV / T&P valve repair or replacement
- Geyser leak repairs and re-sealing
4. Geyser Replacement & Upgrades
If your geyser is over 10 years old, leaking from the tank, or repeatedly failing, replacement is almost always cheaper long-term than another repair. We remove the old unit, dispose of it responsibly, and install a new SABS approved geyser with all new fittings vacuum breaker, expansion valve, isolator, drip tray and insulation. Upgrading from a 100L to 150L tank, or moving to a gas or solar system, is something we’ll quote on the spot.
- Old geyser removal and responsible disposal
- New SABS-approved tank supplied with all fittings
- Capacity upgrades from 100L to 150L or 200L
- Conversions to gas or solar geyser systems
5. Preventive Maintenance & Servicing
A serviced geyser can last up to twice as long as one that is not maintained. Our annual service includes a tank flush to remove sediment build-up, anode rod inspection, PRV testing, element checking, and a full electrical safety inspection. We also re-insulate any exposed pipes to reduce standing heat loss and improve efficiency. Regular maintenance helps prevent sudden failures such as burst geysers that can cause significant water damage to ceilings and property.
- Annual sediment flushing
- Anode rod and valve inspections
- Geyser insulation top-up services
- Written service report provided for insurance purposes
6. Geyser Installation vs Repair: Which Do You Need?
If your geyser is under 8 years old and the failure is limited to a single component (such as the element, thermostat, or valve), repair is usually the most cost-effective option. If the unit is over 10 years old, leaking from the tank itself, or has already required multiple element replacements, replacement is generally the better long-term solution. We’ll give you an honest on-site recommendation based on the actual condition of the geyser — we don’t push new installations when a repair will do.
- Repair recommended for geysers under 8 years old with a single component fault
- Replacement advised for units over 10 years old, tank leaks, or repeated failures
- Honest on-site recommendations based on the actual condition of the geyser
- Flat-rate pricing available for both repair and replacement options

Frequently Asked Questions
Most geyser repairs can be completed within a few hours. A full geyser installation usually takes between 2 to 4 hours, depending on the type of geyser and the condition of the existing plumbing and electrical connections.
The correct geyser size depends on how many people live in your home and how much hot water you use daily. Smaller households typically need a 100–150L geyser, while larger families may require 200–300L. We help you choose the correct size based on your needs.
Common causes include high water pressure, faulty valves, corrosion inside the tank, and normal wear over time. Regular maintenance and early repairs can help prevent sudden geyser failures and water damage.
Yes, your water supply will need to be turned off during the installation or repair, and in some cases the power supply as well. We keep downtime as short as possible and restore services as soon as the work is completed.
We install and repair all common types of geysers used in homes and businesses, including electric storage geysers, high-pressure systems, and various sizes and configurations. Our plumbers assess your existing setup and recommend the most suitable solution where needed.
We recommend having your geyser serviced every 3-5 years. This includes checking the anode rod (which protects against corrosion), testing the pressure valve, and inspecting the thermostat and element. Regular maintenance extends your geyser’s lifespan.
